1.0 Overview
Adaptec is committed to protecting and maximizing its customer's investment
by providing easy access to most recent device driver software. ASW-UPGRADE
is Adaptec's automatic software updating utility. This program will search
for a valid Adaptec device driver; if the driver is not the latest version,
it will be upgraded to the latest version.
This version of the UPGRADE program, UPGRAD11.EXE, includes version 3.0 of
the ASW-1210. This includes version 3.0 of ASPI2DOS.SYS and version 3.0 of
ASPIDISK.SYS. Read the README.DOC files included with these versions for
specific information on the changes.
2.0 Files Included on this Diskette
The files included on the ASW-UPGRADE diskette are:
UPGRAD11.EXE - version 1.1 of Adaptec's upgrade program
DOS.ENC - encoded file of Adaptec DOS drivers
NETWARE.ENC - encoded file of Adaptec NetWare drivers
OS2.ENC - encoded file of Adaptec OS/2 drivers
CD-ROM.ENC - encoded file of Adaptec CD-ROM drivers

3.0 Requirements before running UPGRAD11
UPGRAD11 requires:
1. A hard disk with at least 4 megabytes of free capacity available
at drive C:
2. An earlier Adaptec software driver (that needs to be upgraded).
UPGRAD11 will verify that a valid older driver exists. Once confirmed, it
will decrypt the appropriate operating system file and upgrade the device driver.
The original driver will be renamed with the extension .OLD.
UPGRAD11 will look in the directory in which it is being executed and the
root directory (C:\) for a valid older driver. If not found, UPGRAD11 will
ask for the correct path to the driver to be upgraded.
4.0 Running UPGRAD11
To run UPGRAD11, type UPGRAD11 at the DOS prompt. You must read and agree to
the licensing information that will be displayed before UPGRAD11 will continue.
If you agree, then the screen will look similar to:

10. QUIT

Enter a number that corresponds to the driver that you wish to upgrade.
If UPGRAD11 detects that you already have the latest version of the driver,
it will display a message similar to:
The file is already the latest version of the driver.
If the original file cannot be found because it is not in the root directory
(C:\) or in the current directory, then the following message will appear:
File not found, Enter path to locate file or <ENTER> to quit:
Enter the drive letter and path of the original driver to be upgraded.
Once found, UPGRAD11 will decrypt the UPGRAD11.ENC file. This may take
several minutes. UPGRAD11 will then display the version of both the original
driver, the version of the new driver, and request confirmation.
Found old Version 2.1 , UPGRADE to Version 3.0a? (Y/N):
Enter 'Y' or 'YES' to have UPGRAD11 upgrade the driver files and rename the
original files with the extension .OLD.
